April showers couldn’t dampen the spirits of families who rolled up for the annual Quarriers egg hunt.

Children had a ball as they became little ‘eggsplorers’ at Quarriers Village, collecting clues and solving puzzles in a bid to earn an Easter egg.

A marquee was set up next to the Three Sisters Bake cafe in Bridge of Weir, with people of all ages going along to join in the fun.

An impressive total of £1,000 was raised on the day, which will help social care charity Quarriers provide practical support for vulnerable children, adults and families who face challenging circumstances.

Carol Eden, of Quarriers, said: “We have been hosting these events for around four or five years now and this one was just as popular, despite a little bit of rain.

“We have extensive grounds, which makes this the ideal location for an egg hunt.

“Lots of families dropped by to take part in the hunt, with chocolate eggs generously donated by the Direct Line Group.”

As well as the egg hunt, children were able to have their face painted, enjoy a bouncy castle and meet exotic animals, courtesy of Scales and Tails.

Carol added: “I’d like to thank Inverhall Marquees, Balfour Beatty, of Cumbernauld, and the staff of GE Energy for their support.

“It was a fantastic event and we look forward to the next one.”

The fundraising team at Quarriers are now gearing up for a ladies lunch that will take place at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel this Sunday.
