A MAN who suffered injuries over the weekend in Paisley has died.

Johnny McEwan, 33, was left seriously injured at 3am on Saturday morning in New Street near to Weighhouse Close.

He suffered a serious head injury and was in a critical condition at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

However Johnny's life support machine was switched off last night at around 5pm.

Tributes have since poured in following the news of his death.

Laura Stewart said: "In total shock, Johnny Mcewan you were one of the most honest, caring, people I've met.

"You were always smiling. RIP - fly high, shine bright.

"My thoughts to all johnny's family and friends. He was a true gentlemen and will be missed by so many people."

Craig Johnston said: "Still cant get my head round the fact that this isn't just one bad nightmare.

"We take the simplest things for granted at times like friendly advice and support being just a phone call away.

"Always tell people how much you appreciate the things they do for you because you never know when that chance could be taken away."

Dom Carroll added: "RIP Johnny McEwan, thoughts go out to his friends and family, a sad day for Paisley."

An 18-year-old man appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, April 24 in connection with his death.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Johnathan McEwan, 33, of Paisley died within the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday, April 25.

"His family are aware."

A statement from the family said: "We would like to thank all the staff at the Intensive Care Unit in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and also the members of the Organ Donation Team.

"We would also like to thank all our family and friends for their support and love that has been shown for Johnny and his family at this difficult time."
