A NATIONALIST politician has been reappointed to serve as the SNP Westminster Spokesperson for Sport.
Gavin Newlands, MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, was asked to continue his role ensuring that the interests of Scottish sport are heard in the House of Commons.
It comes after Ian Blackford was elected as SNP Westminster leader taking over from ex-Moray MP Angus Robertson.
Mr Newlands said: “I am delighted to have been reappointed.
"Those that know me will be aware that sport has always played a big part in my life.
"I am passionate about the benefits that sport can have on an individual’s life, helping to not only improve a person’s physical health but their mental health as well.
“In the last Parliament, I championed the interests of Scottish sport at Westminster, including playing a leading role in Scottish tennis being awarded additional funding to help support the growth of the game in Scotland.
“I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that this Parliament will bring about and will continue to work hard to ensure that the interests of Scottish sport are heard in Westminster.”
