A MAN has been arrested after allegedly assaulting a disabled man in Johnstone.

The 20-year-old is thought to have thrown a can of juice at the man at around 3pm yesterday in Church Street before directing an inappropriate disabilist comment at him.

The alleged attacker was held in custody overnight and will appear at Paisley Sheriff Court this afternoon.

Inspector Cassie Glass, of Johnstone Police, said: "I'd like to stress that hate crime will not be tolerated in any form."
