AN adorable Erskine youngster is saddling up to raise cash in memory of her beloved aunt.

For the second year, Maya, seven, will be taking part in Ride for Research in aid of Cancer Research with a little help from Toaty the pony.

Ride For Research is an opportunity for horse-riders across the country to take part in a sponsored hack to raise awareness of the charity.

Maya and Toaty love to be together and being able to do it to raise money for a charity close to the youngster’s heart will make their journey even more special.

Rashielea Primary pupil Maya’s aunt Michelle Whyte was diagnosed with cancer six years ago and died aged 30 last summer.

Kirstin Muir, Maya’s mum, said: “Although our family’s hearts are still broken, her memory has inspired us to come out strong and positive following her death.

“And as Michelle was active in fundraising and involved in working outdoors, this inspired Maya to take part in the ride.Toaty the pony lives at a family friend’s farm in Beith, which Maya regularly visits.

“Last year Maya and Toaty managed to raise £400 for charity and it is hoped that she can raise close to that amount this year.”
