A BANK worker from Paisley has completed a gruelling 26-mile fundraising challenge in the Scottish Borders.

Fraser Young, who works at the Clydesdale Bank in the town’s Causeyside Street, joined 150 other employees on a hike through the Tweed Valley, raising more than £100,000 for the company’s charity partner, Hospice UK.

The expedition took up to 12 hours to complete as the hikers crossed breathtaking scenery.

Fraser, 47, a quality and competence partner at the bank, said: “It was a challenging but amazing experience to complete the hike with so many of my colleagues to raise funds for Hospice UK.

“The bank is supporting us by match funding every penny raised, which was a great motivation to keep going along the way.”

Tracey Bleakley, chief executive of Hospice UK, added: “Everyone from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks made a sterling effort. Their energy and stamina throughout was truly inspiring.

“We are lucky to have such amazing supporters at the banks. Their invaluable support helps ensure that more people get the best end-of-life care possible.”
