DRIVERS are being warned the southbound side of the Erskine Bridge will be temporarily closed this weekend for roadworks to take place.

Scotland TranServ will carry out overnight lane-marking works from 10pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.

Diversions will be in place during the closure and drivers are being asked to identify alternative routes in advance if they plan to travel at this time.

Peter McCann, Scotland TranServ's major bridges manager, said: "We've worked closely with Police Scotland, the local authorities and key stakeholders to schedule these works for the period of lowest traffic disruption.

"Access will be provided for emergency vehicles only during this short programme of works.

"The lane markings are in need of improvement, particularly as the winter approaches with limited light during peak travel periods.

"It is important the markings are visible and that's why we are carrying out this project."
