CHARITY bosses are keen to hear from community groups and companies who are willing to host a talk about bowel cancer.

The free 30-minute talk will be delivered by a trained health promotion volunteer, who often has a personal connection to bowel cancer, in a bid to raise awareness of Scotland’s second biggest cancer killer.

Bowel Cancer UK is using the programme to raise awareness of the disease, highlight the symptoms and risks and stress the importance of those who are of screening age taking the bowel cancer screening test when they receive it in the post.

Claire Donaghy, of Bowel Cancer UK, said: “A key part of our work is educating the public about bowel cancer, in particular the importance of early diagnosis, which really does save lives.

“One of the ways we do this is through our health promotion volunteer programme. If your employees or members of a community group would like to have an awareness talk, don’t delay, get in touch now.”

If you’re interested in hosting an awareness talk at your workplace or community group, book online at bowelcanceruk.org.uk/bookatalk, send an email to scotadmin@bowelcanceruk.org.uk or call 0131 281 7351.
