As the Beast from the East hit Renfrewshire this week, the heavy snow lead to several disruptions across the central belt, including the closure of every school.

Things are slowly beginning to return to normal, with train services back up and running and snow beginning to thaw in many areas.

Several local authorites have announced that their schools will be re-opening on Monday, while others are yet to confirm.

Renfrewshire Council have announced that they expect every school and nursery to open as usual on March 5.

A council spokesman said: "All schools, council-run nurseries and adult day centres will be open tomorrow as normal.

"School transport, including for pupils with additional support needs, will be operating as scheduled.

"Our staff have been working round the clock to ensure premises are ready, including the clearance and gritting of areas around the school, and will continue to do so throughout the evening and overnight.

"As per the current yellow weather warning, we would ask parents be careful when travelling and ensure they are prepared for the road and pavement conditions.

"We look forward to welcoming pupils back to school in the morning."
