THE body of a missing man was pulled from the Black Cart river in Linwood yesterday morning. 

The 52-year-old has been reported missing to police, who had been carrying out searches when the body was found. 

A police spokesperson said: “At around 5.45am on Sunday, August 12, the body of a 52-year-old man was recovered from the Black Cart Water near Bridge Street in Linwood.

“A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death however officers are not treating the death as suspicious.

“The man’s family are aware and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services were also called to the incident. 

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service mobilised a number of resources at 5.12am on Sunday, August 12 to assist emergency service partners at Kashmir Avenue, Linwood, Renfrewshire.

“Crews left the scene at 6.07am after handing the incident over to Police Scotland.”
