A man who raped a woman and attacked his partner on the same night was jailed on monday for six years.

Michael Grey, 35, preyed on the woman at her home in Paisley on October 9 2020.

Grey had been at the property with his partner Shauni Ferguson before she left him.

Grey went on to assault the woman by seizing her by the neck and restricting her breathing.

He then pulled down his and the victim's lower clothing before raping her to her injury.

Grey went to another property in Paisley where he pounced on his partner Miss Ferguson.

He seized her by the throat and her hair.

Grey then dragged her hair and pulled her to the floor.

Grey repeatedly bit Miss Ferguson on the body and pursued her when she tried to call for assistance.

He went on to drag her by the hair and struck her to the floor before biting her head.

Grey then seized Miss Ferguson's neck and restricted her breathing.

Grey also brandished a knife while uttering threats of violence.

Judge Lord Young put Grey on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

He said: "The jury decided after your partner left the flat you assaulted the woman and raped her in her own home.

"She said you grabbed her by the neck and dragged her.

"The jury did not accept that this was consensual.

"You returned to your partner and assaulted her by grabbing her hair and threatened her with a knife.

"Both witnesses had significant vulnerabilities and suffered from physical injuries and fortunately they are short lived."

Ann Ogg, defending, told the sentencing that Grey continues to protest his innocence for both offences.

She added: "Miss Ferguson had a history of assaulting Mr Grey and you will recall that she accepted that she had gave him a black eye a week before this incident."
