A Paisley woman who suffered a serious injury after falling near a local train station is on the search for a Good Samaritan who came to her aid.

Liz McMahon had been walking her dog Luna in Saucelhill Park, close to Canal Street station, when she slipped on mud at around 3.30pm on Thursday, November 12, 2020.

After landing on her back, she was unable to get up on her feet as she had broken her leg in three places.

Liz told The Gazette: "As you can imagine, I was in a lot of pain and very distressed.

The Gazette:

"However, seconds after I fell, a man came over to help me and he was an absolute star.

"He took off his bag so I could use it as a pillow and he put his jacket over me because I think I'd gone into shock."

Liz believes that the Good Samaritan, who was in his early-to-mid 40s, had been walking home from work after disembarking from a train at Canal Street station.

She said: "I think I'd been passing out due to the pain and he kept speaking to me, emphasising that I wasn't to close my eyes at any point.

The Gazette:

"He told me funny stories about his wife and daughter going on holiday and leaving him in charge of the dishwasher and the washing machine.

"He kept me going, as it was around 45 minutes before the paramedics were able to move me and he helped them get me on the stretcher.

"He possibly told me his name in the throes of things but I can't recall it."

Despite undergoing multiple operations, Liz still struggles with her mobility due to her fall but is now able to take Luna out for short walks.

Since restarting her dog walks, she often visits the location where she fell at around 3.30pm in the hope of being reunited with the Good Samaritan.

Liz said: "The bones in my leg have healed and the nerve endings haven't, which means I'm not able to walk the same.

"I've been purposefully going up as far as where the train station at the same time of the day I fell but I've never managed to catch this chap.

"I have a nice bottle of malt which I would like him to have just as a thank you and to let him know that it was very appreciated what he did on that day."
