Hospice bosses have praised charity champions who raised tens of thousands of pounds for a cause close to their heart.

A record 121 supporters braved the rain and took part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk on April 30 in aid of St Vincent's Hospice, in Howwood.

More than £30,000 has been raised so far as a result of their fundraising efforts.

Amongst the walkers were families walking together in memory of loved ones who have been cared for at St Vincent's Hospice and several teams of colleagues from workplaces such as the Co-op stores in Bridge of Weir and Houston, and McKenzie Vets, in Alexandria.

Also taking part in the Kiltwalk event were staff from corporate partners Laurie Ross Insurance and X-Site, in Renfrew, as well as teams from St Vincent Hospice's own care and fundraising departments.

Lesley Campbell, community, corporate and events fundraiser at St Vincent's Hospice, said: "We would not be able to raise such a fantastic amount without everyone's dedication and support.

"The vital funds that have been raised will go towards helping as many patients and families as possible across Renfrewshire and adjoining North Ayrshire."
