A special event has taken place at a Howwood curling club in memory of a much-loved gran.

The race night was held at Greenacres, in Bowfield Road, on Friday, June 30, in honour of Morag Donaldson.

Family members Ross McIntyre, Amy White and Lauren McIntyre helped organise the event in collaboration with St Mirren legend Tony Fitzpatrick's competition website Legacy Comps.

The Gazette:

Around 140 people attended the race night and helped to raise £3,760 for St Vincent's Hospice, in Howwood, which cared for Morag during her final days.

Top Johnstone DJ Charles Docherty went along to spin some tunes, with attendees able to take part in a raffle and games such as 'pound nearest the bottle'.

There was also lots of tasty food on offer at a buffet, with Jed McCabe serving as the compere for the evening.

The Gazette:

He said that Legacy Comps, which sees people buy tickets for the chance to win prizes, was "delighted" to help organise the event.

Jed added: "With two events this year hosted by Legacy Comps in aid of St. Vincent’s, we have raised a total of £15,760 for the hospice."
