A man has been arrested following a car crash in Johnstone.

Police were called to Greenend Avenue at around 10pm on Tuesday, July 18 after receiving a report of a two-vehicle collision.

It is claimed that, on arrival, officers discovered the motorist responsible for the crash had driven away without stopping.

A 27-year-old driver was stopped by police a short time later in Johnstone's High Street and taken into custody.

The suspect was charged with various road traffic offences including disqualified driving, driving with no insurance and failing to stop at a road accident.

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court today.
