A GOOD cause that supports veterans living with sight loss opened its doors to Renfrewshire residents last week.

Sight Scotland Veterans opened its Hawkhead Centre to locals as part of the national Doors Open Day Festival.

Over 150 people visited the charity’s centre during the day to see all the work that takes place in it.

Lorraine Bruce, Hub Coordinator at Sight Scotland Veterans, explains: “Our Doors Open Day was a great success, we were delighted with the number of visitors who came along.

“This was the first time in over 3 years we were able to run an event on this scale bringing all the strands of Sight Scotland Veterans together to showcase the services and support we provide.

“We had over 150 people through the door, including many of our veterans and their family members. Well done to everyone involved, it was a great success!”

The festival is the largest free festival that celebrates history and culture.

It offers free access to over a thousand events across the country throughout September each year.
