1. Hollywood actor James McAvoy described his experience of working on the big-screen with a Houston schoolgirl as “a joy.” Nine-year-old Megan Finn starred alongside the Scottish actor in controversial film Filth.

2. Youngsters at ABC Renfrew Childminders had an eventful morning when they were treated to a visit to the play area at Abbotsinch. The trip became doubly-special when the local fire service showed up in a truck, much to the delight of the children.

3. Work got underway on the restoration of the derelict Houston Kirk, which dates back over 1,000 years and had been last used in 1771.

4. Young people from Renfrewshire turned out to a council-run event to meet people who could help them find their ideal career. The Futuresfest careers fair for young people aged 16 to 24 took place at Paisley’s Lagoon Leisure Centre and featured more than 40 exhibitors.

5. Best known for his role in BAFTA-winning film Trainspotting, Scottish actor Vincent Friell bagged the leading role in a play called Linwood No More, which was based on a historic Linwood factory.

6. Locals indulged in some coffee and delicious cakes at Elderslie Scout Hall and raised £800 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
