Renfrewshire charities say kind-hearted donation from St Mirren hero will "go a long way" to helping others.

Tony Fitzpatrick, who runs Legacy Comps, gifted a combined £1500 to three charities across Renfrewshire as he looks to support the local community.

The former St Mirren chief executive stopped into St Vincent Hospice, Accord Hospice and Rays of Hope to donate the cash personally as part of a "giving back Friday" initiative.

Brittany Scott, community corporate and events fundraiser at St Vincent Hospice, appeared in a short video created by Legacy Comps thanking Tony and guest presenter Jed McCabe.

She said: "Thank you so much.

"The money will go a long way (to helping others)."

The Gazette:

Linda O'Malley, founder and director of Rays of Hope in Elderslie, was stunned when Tony and Jed appeared with cash to hand over.

Rays of Hope is a cancer support charity.

Speaking in the video, Linda said: "It is amazing and great.

"What a fabulous pair you both are and Legacy Comps too.

"This will go a long way to helping what we do here at the charity."

And finally, the group visited Accord Hospice where Tony Fitzpatrick said that it had been a "fantastic day" handing out cash to the charities.

David McFadden, fundraising and community manager at the charity, thanked the pair for coming along and the community for making it possible.

Tony said: "One of our main objectives at Legacy Comps is to help youth sports clubs charities and general good causes.

"As our logo reads we give from the heart and bring sunshine into people's lives.

"This would not be possible without the support of our amazing community.

"Together we really are creating a legacy.”
