RSPB Lochwinnoch is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend with a packed schedule of family-friendly activities.

An open day on Saturday, March 2, will run from 9.30am to 4pm.

Families can take part in our Big Birthday Bash self-led activity - which involves keeping your eyes peeled as you explore the trails. This fun activity will be half-price at £1.75 per activity pack.

In addition, the reserve is hosting a tombola stall, with all proceeds going to the upkeep of the reserve.

In December 1973, RSPB Scotland acquired the wetland site just outside the Renfrewshire village of Lochwinnoch.

Now, 50 years later, it has become one of the flagship nature reserves, having welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors over the years.

It is one of the largest wetlands in southwest Scotland and a significant part of the Castle Semple and Barr Loch SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), as well as an important part of the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.
