Emergency crews raced to a crash after a 'cyclist was hit by a car'.

The incident took place at the junction between Inchinnan Road and Renfrew Road in Renfrew shortly after 7am this morning (Tuesday, March 5).

999 crews, including police and ambulance, rushed to the scene and the cyclist was checked over by paramedics.

Following the accident, the driver of the car was handed a fine for alleged road traffic offences.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 7.20am on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 officers were called to reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a cyclist on the junction between Inchinnan Road and Renfrew Road in Renfrew.

“Emergency services attended and the cyclist was checked over by Paramedics at the scene.

“The driver of the vehicle was issued with a fixed penalty notice for a road traffic offence.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call today at 7.27am from Police Scotland to attend an incident on Renfrew Road.

"We dispatched one ambulance, which arrived on scene within two minutes, and we treated one male patient on scene.”
