The Gazette:

Her most recent role was at McMaster Centre.

The Renfrew North and Braehead representative attended her funeral which was held on Tuesday, March 5.

Councillor Shaw said that there were a "lot of tears but also laughter" whilst people paid their respects to Diane.

He also explained how Diane would regularly keep him informed about the goings on locally whilst he held his advice surgery at the McMaster Centre, as well as giving him a "nudge" to people who may need help.

In the post, he said: "Today we said goodbye to Diane Mullen, who sadly passed away last month.

"Diane dedicated 35 years of service to the town as a janitor at Kirklandneuk Primary, Renfrew High and latterly at the McMaster Centre in the park.

"It's fair to say that there were tears but also laughter as we remembered Diane with a lovely service celebrating her life.

"Like thousands of parents and children, I knew Diane firstly as a parent with a child at Kirklandneuk and then Renfrew High and remember her humour, kindness and willingness to help out in any way she could, themes that ran through the service today.

"In recent times, as a councillor, Diane also talked me into moving my advice surgery to the McMaster Centre and would happily keep me up to date with all the goings on locally when I popped in as well as giving me more than the odd nudge when things needed done or someone needed assistance.

"One other theme running through the service was Diane's love for animals and I think it's fair to say that it will not only be the residents of the town who will miss Diane, there will be plenty of sad pooches walking by the back exit from the McMaster Centre in the coming months and missing their treats and water.

"Sleep well, Diane."

The headteacher of Renfrew High also paid tribute to their former janitor by saying that she often went above and beyond for others.

Andrew Sutherland, Renfrew High School headteacher, said: “Diane was a valued member of the Renfrew High School community for many years. She was passionate about the school and took great pride in her role. She regularly went over and above to help others and will be greatly missed by many.”
