Dozens of kids enjoyed a variety of activities hosted by a Renfrew football club during the first week of the Easter break.

Renfrew Youth FC welcomed around 40 kids to take part in an Easter football Camp which was held at New Western Park, home of Renfrew FC.

The non-profit event was designed to entertain children during the school holidays, cramming three months of activities into one week.

The cost to attend was £10 per day which the club said they wanted to be "as affordable as possible."

They say that they hope to run more in the future.

Helping organise and run the event was a dedicated team of club officials.

Alan Prentice, the head coach who was also part of the famous 2001 Scottish junior cup winning side; the only time the club won the competition, and Mark O'Donnell, coach, worked hard to make the activities exciting.

Alongside the coaches were Laura Cassells, secretary and helper, Charlene Kirkland, helper and Laura Prentice, helper.

The week's activities included a series of fun, Easter-themed football drills, such as an Easter “dribbly egg & spoon race”, as well as off-the-pitch activities, such as football quizzes, football strip designs and egg painting with their favourite team.

Mark said: "We are excited to have run this easter camp as everyone who came along had great fun.

"Giving back to the community is something we always aim to do and achieve.

"The event couldn't have gone any better other than the weather.

"Everyone's reaction to coming along was great and the parents were really supportive.

"Thanks to everyone for coming along.

"All proceeds from the camp are re-generated into the youth club to fund other activities such as taking our 2014s to a football tournament in North Wales this May."
