April showers are commonplace but rain rather than snow is what we'd usually expect to see at this time of year.
Shoppers in Linwood and across Renfrewshire had to hurry through heavy flurries this morning as the cold weather took on a wintry feel.
It was the sort of scene we're more likely to associate with Christmas rather than the early days of spring.
According to the Met Office, the snow will turn to rain later but temperatures will still struggle rise above 9 degrees Celsius.
Tonight we're told to expect cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain, with sleet and snow on higher ground, and perhaps some wet snow at low levels, while the mercury could fall to just above freezing.
Brrrring on the summer.
