A MAN is due to face trial accused of leaving his alleged victim scarred for life in a knife attack.
Paul Markie is said to have assaulted Matthew Stewart at a property in Craigbog Avenue, Johnstone, on December 2 last year.
Markie, of the town’s Maple Drive, is said to have rained blows on Mr Stewart’s head and body with “a knife or similar instrument,” leaving him badly hurt.
The 28-year-old was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court for a first diet last month but failed to show up.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and the indictment was allowed to fall, allowing prosecutors to indict him again in the future.
It’s understood a new indictment will be served on Markie soon and that a trial will then be scheduled to take place later this year.
