Pretty Eilish Herron, 17, died yesterday afternoon after she was run over as she filled up her car at a petrol station in Linwood.
Tragedy struck soon after the aspiring netball star had enjoyed a meal at the nearby Linwood Farm.
Her distraught family issued a statement today (Thursday) to pay tribute to their “lovely girl.” “We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our beautiful daughter Eilish,” the family said.
“We just cannot believe that we will not see her again. She was a lovely girl, a good daughter, sister, granddaughter and a great friend to those who knew her. "She had so much to live for and we will miss her terribly.
“We are very gratefully for the thoughts and kind words already given, however, we would ask that we be allowed to have the time to grieve as a family at this very, very sad and difficult time.” It’s understood the male driver was uninjured.
Investigations are continuing and police have asked any witnesses to the incident to contact them on non-emergency number 101.
