A RENFREW man has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a woman at a property in the town.
Jason Docherty, 46, is alleged to have abused the woman, who can’t be named for legal reasons, in Creran Drive on Sunday.
Prosecutors claim he assaulted her by grabbing her by the hair and hitting her head off a wall, before sexually assaulting her.
Docherty, of Ferguson Street, faces a further two charges over his alleged conduct on the same day.
He is said to have behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.
And he faces a third charge of being in possession of cannabis resin.
Docherty was represented by defence solicitor James Arrol during the private hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, where he made no plea to the three charges against him.
Sheriff Seith Ireland continued the case for prosecutors to investigate further and released Docherty on bail, with special conditions that he should not approach or contact his alleged victim or enter the street where she lives.
