The EuroMillions winner, known only as ‘Mr M,’ banked the supreme cash pot on February 4 — without ever touching a ticket.

The fortunate local was the guaranteed UK winner in the EuroMillions draw on which he entered through national-lottery.co.uk.

He has become one of more than six million players that win each week on The National Lottery’s range of games.

But the jammy millionaire’s identity has remained a secret as he wished to stay out of the limelight.

A National Lottery spokesman confirmed the winner is from the Renfrewshire area but remained tight-lipped about his town or village.

He added: “Huge congratulations to Mr M for winning this fantastic prize without even touching a ticket.

“With many people leading busy lives playing online is becoming increasingly popular, through a few simple clicks players can make sure that they don’t miss out.” The latest win comes just five months after The Gazette revealed how a quids-in councillor from Johnstone won more than £2m on the National Lottery.

Despite his whopping windfall, dedicated Iain McMillan, who lives in the town and represents the Johnstone South ward, decided against quitting politics.

The lucky Labour man banked a staggering £2,058,662 after matching all six numbers in a Wednesday night draw.

He told us: “It made sense to resign from the benefits office.

“But I love being a councillor and people have elected me for five years so I’ve no intention of walking away.

“I was elected to represent the Johnstone South, Elderslie and Howwood ward for a five-year term and I’ve only done a year and a half, so I’ve no plans to walk away from politics.

“I promise I’ll continue to work hard for my constituents.” Iain, 48, and his wife Donna scooped the cash by picking 5, 7, 20, 24, 30 and 41 — numbers they have used for years.

But they didn’t realise they had hit the jackpot until 24 hours later, when Donna checked the ticket.

And the way the couple celebrated their windfall shows just how down to earth they are — Iain had a bottle of Diet Coke and went to Ibrox with his son to see his favourite team thrash Stenhousemuir 8-0.

A survey of lottery winners found that, surprisingly, many shun champagne and turn to tea to celebrate.

However, most soon adapt to their new found wealth with 82 per cent of big winners splurging on a new home, many with luxurious features such as walk–in wardrobes, pool tables and hot tubs.

Winners have also been keen to reduce household chores with many employing cleaners and gardeners.
