Helen McWhirter, of Linwood, who worked at Braemount Care Home in Paisley, is also said to have told a colleague: “These residents have dementia — why are these f***ing residents still up?” The staff nurse is facing 12 charges of misconduct at the Donaldswood Road complex. The incidents are alleged to have took place between July 22 and 25 last month.

The home notified the Care Inspectorate, and complex owner Bupa has said she has since left her post.

Ms McWhirter, whose LinkedIn profile says she has worked as a nurse for three years, is also alleged to have made vile remarks of sexual nature about a resident and inappropriately swore at a pensioner to “get out of the f***ing road.” In a separate charge, on or around November 2012, she is accused of putting her hand on an unknown resident’s forehead before thrusting their head backwards.

And in or around April 2013, she is said to have elbowed a woman, known only as Resident E, in the stomach before grabbing her by the arm and swearing. McWhirter is also accused of shouting at a colleague during handover about incontinence pads.

The Renfrewshire nurse is due to appear before the Nursing and Midwifery Council on August 26-29. A spokesman for Bupa, the owners of the Paisley-based home, said: “Nurse McWhirter was suspended from her post but resigned and hasn’t been at the home since July 2013.”
