Crews were sent to the incident in Wellmeadow Street in response to a 999 call made shortly after 7.20am this morning, with firefighters reaching the scene around five minutes later.
Watch Manager Kevin Gilluley, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) incident commander, said: “This was a fire in the second floor flat.
“I immediateyy committed two firefighters in breathing apparatus; they were equipped with a hosereel jet and successfully rescued an adult female from the affected property.
“Firefighters carried out first aid at the scene and the casualty was removed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital by paramedics.
“Our crews extinguished the fire and then continued to check for signs of fire spread to ensure the fire was fully out before we left the scene.” An investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted by SFRS fire invesigation in partnership with Police Scotland.
