One week before the anniversary of the terrorist attack on June 30, 2007, airport officials confirmed police activity had resulted in disruption to the roads network but they moved quickly to deny rumours that the airport terminal had been closed.
The Glasgow Airport twitter feed posted updates after several people contacted them amid reports of a bomb scare linked to an abandoned vehicle.
At around 10.40pm they posted: “Police incident currently being stood down. Airport remains open and partial road closure will be removed as soon as possible.” It's understood all road blocks have now been removed and traffic returned to normal operations.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police received a report of an unattended car at Glasgow Airport. The incident has now been dealt with and no criminality was established."
The incident comes just one week before the eighth anniversary of the terror attack of 2007 when a jeep laden with gas cannisters was driven into the terminal building.
