FUNDRAISERS were left suffering from serious meat sweats following an epic Man versus Food challenge.

Four determined members of staff from the Argos store at the Phoenix Retail Park, in Linwood Road, Paisley, were raising funds for the Macmillan cancer charity.

Each of them was faced with a super-sized burger and a mountain of carb-loaded sides at the newly-opened Butchers Steak and Grill restaurant, in Elderslie.

Heather Renicks, 25, Corrina Caldwell, 28, Scott McClements 28, and Gary McCartney, 25, were the four eating machines who took on the mammoth meal.

It consisted of a whopping two-and-a-half kilos of meat, plus chips and onion rings, all washed down with sauce.

Although only managing to chow down just over half of the feast, Scott claimed victory in the eating challenge.

Lynne Scott, charity champion at the Argos store, said: “The fundraising total is still being counted but we think it will be hundreds of pounds.

“A huge thank you to Butchers Steak and Grill for allowing us to use their premises and for supplying the delicious food.”

Restaurant boss Gavin Colquhoun added: “It would have been very hard to complete the challenge but it was a very good effort.”
