AN ERSKINE mum has made an emotional appeal for her teenage daughter to come home after she went missing more than a week ago.

Linda McKenna, 40, last saw her 14-year-old daughter Rachel Dever on Monday May 3.

The teenager left the house after an argument with her mum at 11am and was with a friend in the Glenburn area of Paisley until 4pm, but no one has seen her since.

Fighting back tears at a press conference yesterday morning (Tuesday), Linda explained that the family including Rachel's brother Stephen, nine, and sister Hannah, 12, were all missing her.

She said: "Rachel, your gran and I are so, so worried about you right now.

"As are Stephen and Hannah, and we all want you to come home right now.

"It's all that really matters to us.

"It's Hannah's birthday today, and it's the only one she's ever had without you. Please come home.

"We're not angry with you pet.

"We just need you to get in touch with someone and let us know you're safe - at the very least.

"I'd also like to say thank you to all Rachel's friends who have tried to help find her. However, if there is someone who knows anything about where she is, then please tell someone.

"It's in Rachel's best interests that she is found." The Park Mains High School pupil has been described as approximately 5ft, of slim build with dirty blond long hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a royal blue hooded top with JLS written on it and blue denim jeans when she went missing.

It is thought Rachel, who is described as vulnerable, has run away before.

Superintendent Niven Rennie said: "We believe that she is still within the Erskine or Paisley area and may be in the care of some well meaning friend.

"As time goes on, however, our concerns have increased.

"We would ask Rachel, anyone whom she may be staying with or anyone who knows where she may be to get in contact with either her mother or their local police to reassure us she is safe." A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: "Rachel is a capable, courteous and personable pupil who has never given any serious cause for concern in the school.

"Staff and pupils are continuing to liaise with the police to assist with their enquiries. We would urge anyone with any information about Rachel to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 0141 532 6021.
