A BISHOPTON man is to stand trial charged with causing the death of a 50-year-old woman in an alleged hit and run.
John Henderson made his first appearance in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday (April 7).
Henderson is accused of colliding with and then running over Audrey Gray in the city’s Govan on May 4 last year.
The 55 year-old, of Holmpark, is alleged to have caused the death by driving dangerously. He faces an alternative allegation of causing the woman’s death while driving carelessly.
Henderson is further charged with failing to stop following the accident in the city’s McGregor Street – near Ibrox Stadium.
His QC Gordon Jackson told the hearing the case was ready for trial. Judge Lady Rae set a trial due to begin in July.
THIEVES have hit a number of churches in Renfrewshire.
A 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing a collection box containing around £50 from St Laurence’s Church, Kilmacolm Road, Greenock, on Saturday night.
