The 24-year-old was threatened by a man, who was believed to have a knife, and robbed of a backpack containing personal belongings and a sum of cash.

The incident happened at around 11.35pm on Tuesday, November 25. Fortunately the victim was inhurt.

The suspect was last seen running into Kings Road next to Abbey Road and is described as white, in his mid 30s, 5ft 11, with a slim build.

He also had a non-local accent, possibly English, and had a distinctive scar on his right cheek. He was wearing a white hooded top with blue stripes on the arms, a dark beanie hat, blue jeans and white and grey shoes.

Detective Constable Andy Henderson said: “Thankfully the man wasn’t hurt but this was a terrifying ordeal and he has been left badly shaken by the attack.

“This is a quiet area in Elderslie and incidents such as this are uncommon but I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the local community that we are doing everything we can to track down the person responsible.
