Much like the Clutha disaster one year before, it was incomprehensible that something so terrible could happen to people at a moment when they were enjoying the company of friends at a traditionally joyous time of year.

Those who witnessed the events, and those directly affected by it, carry the biggest burden.

We can only hope the outpouring of genuine sadness and sympathy that followed will provide some solace in the darkest of hours.
