CUP drama returns to Renfrewshire following the draw for the next round of the Central League Cup.

With Renfrew having already booked their spot in the third round and Johnstone Burgh still waiting to play their second round tie with neighbours Neilston, both sides were in the hat as the draw was made last Wednesday.

Having been handed a reprieve following a 5-0 defeat to Pollok at Newlandsfield after their opponents fielded an ineligible player, Martin Ferry and Colin Clark’s Frew will head to Kirkintilloch to face a tricky tie against Premier League side Rob Roy.

If they can pull off the upset they would be rewarded with another journey, this time to either Lanark or Lesmahgow.

And, if Burgh manage to overcome Andy Whiteford’s Neilston at Keanie Park they will then face Premier Division high-flyers Clydebank.

The Bankies are on a good run of form that has seen them end Auchinleck Talbot’s season long unbeaten run in recent weeks but supporters will no doubt relish the opportunity to welcome Budgie McGhie’s men to Johnstone.

Full third round draw: Johnstone Burgh/Neilston v Clydebank, Lesmahagow v Lanark United, Thorniewood United v St Anthony’s, Cumbernauld United v Dunipace, Vale of Leven v Rutherglen Glencairn, Kilsyth Rangers v Maryhill, Kirkintilloch Rob Roy v Renfrew, Shettleston v Vale of Clyde.
