Arquin, a midweek signing following the end of his contract with the Dingwall club, will take on his former teammates on Saturday.

Speaking at the Paisley club’s weekly press conference this afternoon, he said: “I don’t feel Saturday is a chance to prove myself to Ross County.

“I just need to prove myself to my manager at St Mirren that I can play as a striker for the club.

“I am happy to sign here, it is a good club, with good people and a good manager.

“Now I just need to be ready for the first game.” Saints boss Gary Teale moved quickly to snap up Arquin following his release, and admits he is excited to see him in the black and white stripes.

Teale said: “Yoann’s strengths for me, and every time that I have seen him, are that he has been a handful.

“If I can get the best out of him he will stretch teams in behind, and will be that presence up front.

“I spoke to Jim Goodwin when I was thinking of bringing him in and asked him his thoughts, and he said Yoann is always a handful.

“So hopefully with that presence up front, it will stretch us up the pitch, then with the chances that we then create he will start banging in the goals.”
