The Bantams completed a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to record one of the biggest cup upsets in recent memory, with former Renfrew High School pupil Halliday putting his side 3-2 ahead before being awarded man of the match.

Hailing from Renfrew, Saturday’s goal completed a journey of a lifetime for the former Livingston man, one he admits he could only have dreamed off.

Speaking to Gazette Sport, he said: “It has been a crazy few days, it is an unbelievable achievement and an unbelievable experience.

“It is a long, long way from Renfrew, but I am first to tell you, I have never forget where I have come from, never forgot my family and everyone who has helped me get to where I am today.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet, I am a big Chelsea fan so to score on their turf in front of my family who were all in the Bradford ends makes the whole experience extra special, the stuff of dreams.” Halliday’s strike put Phil Parkinson’s side ahead, and his curling effort beyond Petr Cech was a joy to behold. However the 23-year-old admits he doesn’t remember the lead up to the goal, revealing that much of the match is just a blur.

Halliday added: “It is honestly all a blur, I can only tell you about the goal by watching the highlights.

“Big Jon Stead had been playing well and he done fantastic to lay the ball off for me. I’ve just ran full pelt at it and hit it with my wrong foot, I don’t score a lot of goals, never mind any with my right foot.

“At 2-0 down you are just hoping to not concede any more and get into half-time and re group, but I don’t think anyone expected what came in the second half.

“You won’t see a better second-half display at Stamford Bridge this season, we beat them 3-0 in the second half on their own pitch.

“That is unbelievable, the stuff of fairytales.”
