This week we focus on Saints star of Finlay Cunningham, who signed for the Buddies in 1932. He would spend nine years with the club before departing in 1941 following 139 games with the club.
From the description given he appears to have been a centre-half before his time.
The card said: “Finlay is a pivot who doesn’t believe in too much of the clear-at-any-cost, “third back” game. He likes nothing better than to break up an opposing attack, then set his own forwards going with a well-judged pass, rather than boot the ball anywhere upfield. His junior club was the crack Glasgow side, Baillieston Juniors, and he joined the Saints from them.
“He is now a firm favourite with the Love Street supporters.”
