Largs brought a strong away support to Keanie Park as they prepared to take on Burgh. Burgh were returning to competitive action for the first time in three weeks due to postponements.

It was Burgh, who got the game underway and they were on the front foot from the get go as they found themselves with a number of early chances, however, it was Largs who opened the scoring after a perplexing mistake from the Burgh goalkeeper.

Burgh goalkeeper, Fraser Wilson picked up a pass back and gave away a clear indirect free-kick. Every Burgh player, including the goalkeeper created a wall in the box, the free kick was passed out to Craig Little who side-footed the ball into the net, giving Largs the lead.

This lead wouldn’t last long as Burgh replied instantly when Jason Hardie found the Largs’ net. Hardie had space outside the Largs’ box and hit a wonder strike that nestled in the top corner.

The game had burst into life and both sides now pressed for the lead. Burgh’s Jason Hardie found the Largs net again to give his side the lead. Hardie took advantage of a missed hit clearance and was one-on-one with the Largs’ goalkeeper Grant Weir, Hardie calmly took the ball round Weir before putting the ball into the empty net.

Burgh doubled their advantage when Jason Hardie collected a long ball at the edge of the Largs’ box — he found Jack Heron, who finished to make it 3-1.

Burgh were on the attack again when another long ball up field cause the Largs’ defence problems. Heron picked up the ball before passing to Hardie, Hardie found Neil Dinnen at the edge of the box who beat the Largs’ goalkeeper with a strike. Burgh went into the break with a three goal lead.

Largs got the second half underway and looked like a different side as they piled pressure on the Burgh goal. Burghs defence managed to hold off most of Largs’ attacks in the early stages of the second half, but after a number of attacks Largs pulled a goal back.

Largs won a run of corners, from one Glenn Thomson put a ball into the box that found the head of Nicky Jamieson who headed the ball past the Burgh goalkeeper.

With a goal back Largs looked to be back in the game, but three red cards would kill any chance the away side had of salvaging the match. Scott Keogh, Barry McLauchlin and Glenn Thomson all saw red.
