USAIN Bolt may have made his long awaited Commonwealth Games debut at Hampden on Friday night — but also making his Games debut was Kilbarchan AAC runner Callum Hawkins.
Hawkins took to the track to run in the men’s 10,000m final clocking a commendable 29.12.52 to finish overall 20th following 25 laps.
The race was eventually won by Ugandan Moses Kipsiro who only managed to edge clear of Canadian Cameron Levins in the final metre to claim gold with a time of 27.56.11.
Kipsiro was following up on his double gold success in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the Dehli Games in 2010 and his experience was telling as he timed his run perfectly to claim the gold.
