St Mirren were the hosts at Park Mains High School — and were immediately handed the upper hand over their opponents, who arrived with only six players.

However, with four of those six ranking amongst the tallest in the league, the height advantage worked well for Tayside in the first quarter as they converted a number of easy opportunities to take the quarter 12-17.

The second-half proved to be much more lucrative for the young St Mirren side as they began to gain control of the game through hustle defence and strong finishing.

This was led by Niamh MacLeod who scored eight of her 10 points in this quarter alone. The score at the end of the third quarter was a much more comfortable 45-32.
