A ROAD safety show is to take place at two Renfrew schools after a number of incidents in recent months involving children being hit by cars.
Councillor Jane Strang has welcomed Renfrewshire Council’s decision to directly engage with pupils and staff at St James’ Primary and Kirklandneuk Primary.

A police officer will also be deployed in the area after Cllr Strang raised concerns over speed bumps in Nethergreen Road not being wide enough.

She said: “We need to ensure our youngsters feel safe coming to and from school but, sadly, that has not been the case in recent months.
“I have liaised closely with council officials to call for greater measures promoting road safety within our schools and I’m pleased a road safety show will be carried out later this month.

“I also hope inspectors can take a greater interest in controlling speeding around our schools.”
