A VICIOUS gang battered a man and his neighbours who went to his aid. 

The 41-year-old victim was violently attacked by the youths in Mavisbank Terrace, in Paisley, on Saturday. 

The victim needed six stitches to a cut above his left ear and was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

During the rammy, which occurred at around 8.50pm, the teens launched an attack on Good Samaritans who tried to help. 

A 49-year-old woman and another man, 41, were assaulted as they tried to pull their injured friend to safety. 

Detective Inspector Bob Bowie, from Paisley CID, is leading the investigation and asked for anyone with information to get in touch.

He told The Gazette: "We would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“Did you see a group of youths in the area that night?

“I’d also ask anyone with private space CCTV within that area to come forward.”

Two teens, aged, 15 and 17, were arrested and released pending further inquiries in connection with the incident.
