ONE of Renfrewshire's best-known hotels is under new ownership.

The Erskine Bridge Hotel & Spa has been bought by MGM Muthu Hotels for an undisclosed sum.

MGM Muthu describes itself as "one of Europe’s leading leisure groups, with resorts in Portugal, Spain, England, Scotland and France."

It also operates resorts in Cuba and India.

Now its portfolio includes the Erskine Bridge Hotel, which has 177 en-suite guest rooms, a 200-cover restaurant and self-contained spa facilities, including a pool and gym.

It also houses one of the largest function spaces in the west of Scotland, which can cater for up to 500 guests.

Specialist business property advisors Christie & Co brokered the off-market purchase of the hotel on behalf of its previous owners Cosmopolitan Hotels.

Stuart Drysdale, director at Christie & Co, said: “We have had a long-standing relationship with Cosmopolitan Hotels and were asked to conduct a confidential marketing campaign to find a buyer for the hotel.

"MGM Muthu Hotels are expanding their portfolio in Scotland and the purchase allows them to significantly increase their room stock and secure a large hotel, with easy access to Glasgow Airport, and act as a starting point for overseas visitors exploring the Loch Lomond area and the wider west coast of Scotland.”
