THREE care homes in Bridge of Weir will close, it has been revealed.

Quarriers, a health and social care charity, has announced that they will be shutting the care homes in Quarrier's Village in what was a "difficult decision".

The closure of the "small" facilities - Glen Valley, Fountainview and Ashgrove - will affect a total of 17 vulnerable residents.

However, the charity has confirmed that it "does not foresee" any staff losses concerning the closures.

It offers services to support adults and children with disabilities, young people facing homelessness, families facing poverty, unpaid carers and people affected by epilepsy.

Dr Ron Culley, Quarriers CEO, said: “Quarriers has announced the difficult decision to close three care homes in Quarrier’s Village.

"We have faced ongoing difficulties in recruiting the required staff numbers to provide the highest level of care within this care model and geographical location.

“We are working closely with the relevant local authorities and the families of the people we support to ensure that suitable alternative accommodation is secured.

"We offer heartfelt apologies for the disruption this decision will cause to the people we currently support and their families.

“This decision was made with the utmost consideration for the safety and well-being of those in our care.

"We are dedicated to making this period of transition as comfortable as possible for all involved and will engage in regular communication with the families to keep them informed of updates.

"Quarriers does not foresee any staff losses in relation to this process.”

Glen Valley supports adults with physical and/or learning disabilities to live an independent life as much as possible.

Fountainview ensures that individuals are supported to make choices and decisions with regard to how and where they live.

Meanwhile, Ashgrove looks to help residents live independently with daytime care and sleepover staff at night to offer support should they need it.
