The chairman of a boxing club has heaped praise on a talented young boxer after he won gold while representing Scotland.
Liam Moohan, from Glenburn in Paisley, emerged victorious at the Four Nations Boxing Tournament, held in Motherwell last month.
The contest sees the best boxers from Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland battle it out at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility.

John McGuire, chairman of Barrhead Boxing Club, said: “Liam controlled the bout throughout with a great display of technical boxing allied to his great desire to win.
“He won the contest with a majority 3-2 win. Most observers, however, believed he won by a wider margin.”
Liam has been a member of Barrhead BC since 2019 and trains at least three nights a week at the club as well as attending regular Scotland squad training camps.
John believes it is Liam’s positive attitude to training and competing which gives him the edge over his opponents.
“Liam is a pleasure to have in the gym, and his attitude, commitment and desire to be the best he can be is an inspiration to others at the club,” he explained.

The teenager, however, is no stranger to success.
Liam is a two-time Scottish Champion, a gold medallist at the William Wallace Box Cup and a Western District Champion.
As we previously reported, he was selected to represent his country at the Gergely Bornemissza Memorial Tournament in Eger Hungary in 2024.
He also enjoyed success in that competition, coming out on top in the junior 46kg weight class after a lovely display of front foot, clever boxing.

The young boxer now has his sights set on the IBA European Youth Championships in Serbia next month after being selected to represent Scotland at the contest.
“He's also due to box in Dublin in September before taking part in the Scottish Championships in November at Motherwell,” added John.
“He will then move up to the Elite class of boxing from January 2027.”
