Boyle denies assaulting Mr Gallagher by raining punches on his face on May 26 this year.
At a pre-trial hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court last week, the case was adjourned until next month for a further pre-trial hearing to take place.
Boyle, 22, maintains his innocence.
